The municipality haes a population o 8,608 (28 Februar 2023)[2] an the municipality covers an aurie 255.32 square kilometre (98.58 sq mi) o which 12.95 square kilometre (5.00 sq mi) is inland watter (2018-01-01).[1] The population densitie is 36 inhabitants per square kilometre (93/sq mi) (28 Februar 2023).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
