Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

The territory o Nagorno-Karabakh presently forms pairt o Azerbaijani rayons o Khojavend, Tartar, Goranboy, Shusha and Kalbajar. In Soviet times the region wis kent as Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast; housomeivver on 26 November 1991, the Parliament o the Azerbaijan SSR abolished the autonomous status o the NKAO. Syne then the territory o the autonomous oblast haes been admeenistratively split atween the neighborin rayons, but maist o it remains unner the control o the ethnic Armenie forces frae Nagorno-Karabakh an Armenie[2] as result o the Nagorno-Karabakh War.
The seiven rayons an ane municipality o the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are leetit an numbered separately.
