Uvs (Mongolie: Увс аймаг) is ane o the 21 aimags (provinces) o Mongolie. It is locatit in the wast o the kintra, 1336 km awa frae the naitional caipital Ulan Bator. Its caipital is Ulaangom which lees 936m abuin sea level.

Geography

O the total aurie o the province, 60% belangs tae the muntainous climatic zone, an 40% tae the Gobi semi-desert.
Population

History
eeditEfter the revolution in 1921 in Mongolie, on 21 November 1925 the govrenment foondit the Chandmani Uulyn Aimag (Чандмань уулын аймаг, Jewel Muntain Province). This province includit the whole wastren pairt o the kintra, i.e. the day's Uvs, Khovd an Bayan-Ölgii Aimags. In 1931 Chandmani Uulyn Aimag aimag wis split up intae the Khovd an Dörvöd aimags. Dörvöd aimag (Дөрвөд аймаг) wis renamit tae Uvs aimag in 1933.
