Kiryat Malakhi (Hebrew: קִרְיַת מַלְאָכִי‬, Qiryat Malakhi or Kiryat Malachi an aw) is a ceity cooncil-govrened municipality in Israel's Soothren Destrict, 17 kilometres (11 mi) frae Ashkelon. In 2015 it haed a population o 21,551. Its jurisdiction is 4,632 dunams (~4.6 km²). Moshe Katsav, the aicht Preses o Israel, wis a past mayor o Kiryat Malakhi.

Kiryat Malakhi, literally "Ceity o Angels", wis established in 1951 as a ma'abara, or tent ceity, tae hoose the masses o Jewish immigrants who arrived durin the early days o the state, mony o them pairt o the Jewish exodus frae Arab lands. The name wis chosen tae honor the Jewish community o Los Angeles, Californie, which contributit hintle o the fundin for its establishment.[2] It later became ane o several development touns in the Negev.

Moshe Katsav wis electit mayor in 1969 at the age o 24. His younger brither, Lior Katsav, wis mayor o Kiryat Malakhi an aw, whilst Yosef Vanunu held the post frae 1981 till the 1990s. The current mayor is Motti Malka.[3]
