Duino-Aurisina borders the follaein municipalities: Komen (Slovenie), Doberdò del Lago, Monfalcone, Sežana (Slovenie), Sgonico, Trieste.

The poet Rainer Maria Rilke began his Duino Elegies while stayin at Duino castle in 1912.
