eeditAccording tae the 2002 census o the National Statistics Institute, Paredones spans an aurie o 561.5 km2 (217 sq mi) an haes 6,695 inhabitants (3,562 men an 3,133 weemen). o these, 2,195 (32.8%) lived in urban auries an 4,500 (67.2%) in landwart auries. The population grew bi 1.1% (73 persons) atween the 1992 an 2002 censuses.[2]

eeditAs a commune, Paredones is a third-level admeenistrative diveesion o Chile administered bi a municipal cooncil, headed bi an alcalde who is directly electit every fower year. The 2008-2012 alcalde is Sammy Ormazábal López.[1]
Athin the electoral divisions o Chile, Paredones is representit in the Chamber o Deputies bi Mr. Ramón Barros (UDI) an Mr. Juan Carlos Latorre (PDC) as pairt o the 35t electoral district, (thegither wi Placilla, Nancagua, Chépica, Santa Cruz, Lolol, Pumanque, Palmilla, Peralillo, Navidad, Litueche, La Estrella, Pichilemu an Marchihue). The commune is representit in the Senate bi Alejandro García-Huidobro (UDI) an Juan Pablo Letelier Morel (PS) as pairt o the 9t senatorial constituency (O'Higgins Region).
