eeditAccording tae the 2002 census o the National Statistics Institute, Litueche spans an aurie o 618.8 km2 (239 sq mi) an haes 5,526 inhabitants (2,932 men an 2,594 weemen). o these, 2,479 (44.9%) lived in urban auries an 3,047 (55.1%) in landwart auries. The population grew bi 1.1% (60 persons) atween the 1992 an 2002 censuses.[2]

eeditAs a commune, Litueche is a third-level admeenistrative diveesion o Chile administered bi a municipal cooncil, headed bi an alcalde who is directly electit every four years. The 2012-2016 alcalde is René Acuña Echeverría.[1]
Athin the electoral divisions o Chile, Litueche is representit in the Chamber o Deputies bi Mr. Ramón Barros (UDI) an Mr. Juan Carlos Latorre (PDC) as pairt o the 35t electoral district, (thegither wi Placilla, Nancagua, Chépica, Santa Cruz, Lolol, Pumanque, Palmilla, Peralillo, Navidad, La Estrella, Pichilemu, Marchihue an Paredones). The commune is representit in the Senate bi Andrés Chadwick Piñera (UDI) an Juan Pablo Letelier Morel (PS) as pairt o the 9t senatorial constituency (O'Higgins Region).
