Gwangju

Gwangju (offeecially kent as Gwangju Metropolitan Ceety; Korean pronunciation: [kwaŋdʑu]) is the saxt lairgest ceety in the Republic o Korea. It is a designatit metropolitan ceety unner the direct control o the central govrenment's Hame Meenister. The ceety wis an aa the caipital o Sooth Jeolla Province till the provincial office moved tae the soothren veelage o Namak in Muan Coonty in 2005.

Gwang (광, hanja 光) means "licht" an Ju (주, hanja 州) means "province."
