Yoav Regional Cooncil
Yoav Regional Cooncil (Hebrew: מועצה אזורית יואב, Mo'atza Azorit Yoav) is a regional cooncil in the Sooth Destrict o Israel. It is locatit near the ceeties o Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malakhi an Ashkelon. It wis foondit in 1952, it covers an aurie o 230,000 dunams (230 km2), an its population is aboot 5,300.
The cooncil is named efter Yitzhak Dubnov, who wis nicknamed "Yoav", an who fell while defendin Negba in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Operation Yoav an Metzudat Yoav, which is locatit in the cooncil's aurie, are an aa named efter him.
The cooncil contains twa pairts which are no contiguous geographically. The main pairt is bordered on the north bi Nahal Sorek Regional Cooncil, on the wast bi Be'er Tuvia Regional Cooncil an Shafir Regional Cooncil, on the sooth bi Lakhish Regional Cooncil an Kiryat Gat, an on the east bi Matte Yehuda Regional Cooncil. The wastren portion o the cooncil, which includes the kibbutzim Negba an Sde Yoav, is bordered on the north and east by Shafir Regional Cooncil, on the wast bi Hof Ashkelon Regional Cooncil, an on the wast bi Lakhish Regional Cooncil.
