Sud Carangas province is ane o the saxteen provinces in the Oruro Depairtment. It is locatit atween 18° 38' an 19° 09' Sooth an atween 66° 37' an 67° 34' Wast.

The province borders Saucarí Province in the North, Carangas Province in the Northwast, Litoral Province in the Wast, Ladislao Cabrera Province in the Sooth, Sebastián Pagador Province in the Sootheast, Eduardo Avaroa Province in the East, an Poopó Province in the Northeast. The province borders Poopó Lake in the East.

The province extends ower 60 km frae North tae Sooth, an 100 km frae East tae Wast.

Population eedit

Main idiom o the province is Aymara, spoken bi 96.5 %, while 78.1 % o the population speak Spaingie an 46.0 % Quechua (1992).

The population increased frae 4,028 indwallers (1992 census) tae 6,136 (2001 census), an increase o 52 %. - 41.1 % o the population are younger than 15 year auld (1992).

99.9 % o the population hae nae access tae electricity, 98.7 % hae nae sanitary facilities (1992).

77.9 % o the population are employed in agriculture, 4.1 % in industry, 18.0 % in general services (2001).

74.8 % o the population are Catholics, 18.9 % are Protestants (1992).
