History
eeditWhile kent tae earlier splorers, includin the Dutch, the aurie wis first explicitly mentioned in Cheenese annals in 1694 as Shimenshan (石門山; Stane Gate Muntain).[1] Durin the period o Imperial Japanese rule, Shimen wis cried Sekimon Veelage (石門庄), an wis govrened bi the Tamsui destrict (淡水郡) o the Taihoku Prefectur. In 1945 when the Kuomintang teuk ower admeenistration o Taiwan the aurie became Shimen Landwart Tounship, a pairt o Taipei Coonty. Wi the reorganisation o Taipei Coonty in 2010, Shimen became a destrict o the newly creatit New Taipei.
