Nizip (Ottoman Turkish: نزيب[3], Kurdish: Bêlqîs‎, Zazaki: Sêwrege) is a destrict o Gaziantep Province o sootheastren Turkey.

As o 2010, the population o the ceety is 96,229. It is locatit 45 km frae the ceety o Gaziantep, 95 km frae Şanlıurfa (Edessa), an 35 km frae Karkamış, which is an auld ceety kent historically as Gilgamesh an aw. It is quite near tae the auncient Roman ceeties o Zeugma an Rumkale, which means Roman Castle. The ceety is commonly ramfeeselt wi Nusaybin acause baith ceeties haed similar auncient names, which are Nisibis an Nisibin. Even in vera credible encyclopedias thare appear some confusions. Indeed, while Nizip is near the Euphrates river, Nusaybin is near the Tigris river. In excavation steids, valuable mosaics hae been foond, includin those of Triton, Dionysos' Weddin, Poseidon, Perseus, Gypsy Girl or Gaia, Dolphin an Eros, Physke, Akhilleus, Aphrodite's Birth, the God o Euphrates, an Europa.

In 1839, the Ottoman Empire an Egyp, which wis being ruled bi Muhammad Ali o Egyp (itherwise kent as Muhammad Ali Pasha), went tae war in the kintraside o Nizip on 24 Juin 1839. Acause o that, the war wis cried the Battle o Nezib.
