The Glesga destrict o Mount Floridae oreeginatit on the "Lands of Mount Floridon" which wur describit in detail when affered for sale at auction on 21 September 1814. The notice in the Glasgow Herald describit the estate as consistin o upwairds o 15 acre (6.1 ha), wi a mansion hoose conteenin 2 dwellins an gardens well stockit wi fruit trees.[1]

Contemporar maps frae the 1850s show the auld hoose renamit as "Mount Floridae, (Ruin)". It wis entered frae Prospecthill Road an consistit o twa semi-detached dwellins an surroondin gardens.

Hintle o the present suburb is situatit in the area tae the sooth o the auld hoose. This grund wis pairt o the "Lands of Clincart", which wur put up for sale bi auction on 28 Juin 1836. A fermhoose an 95 acres o laund wur affert for potential residential development.[2]
