The Magellanic penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus) is a Sooth American penguin, breedin in coastal Argenteinie, Chile an the Fauklan Isles, wi some migratin tae Brazil whaur thay are occasionally seen as far north as Rio de Janeiro. It is the maist numerous o the Spheniscus penguins. Its nearest relatives are the African, the Humboldt an the Galápagos Penguins. The Magellanic penguin wis named efter Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who spottit the birds in 1520.
