Limerick (Inglis pronunciation: /ˈlɪm(ə)ɹɪk/; Erse: Luimneach, [ˈl̪imʲɨnʲəx][5]) is a ceety in Ireland. It is locatit in the Mid-Wast Region an is pairt o the province o Munster an aw. Limerick City Council is the local authority for the ceety. The ceety is biggit on several curves an islands o the River Shannon, which spreads intae an estuary shortly dounriver frae Limerick. It is the third maist muckle ceety in the state an is the first tae receive the designation o Ceety o Cultur.
