Kiryat Ye'arim (Hebrew: קִרְיַת יְעָרִים‬), kent forbye as Telz-Stone, is a toun (local cooncil) in the Jerusalem Destrict o Israel.

Accordin tae the Israel Central Bureau o Statistics (CBS), at the end o 2005 Kiryat Ye'arim haed a population of 3,100, predominantly Jewish, wi a growth rate o 1.2%.

It is a naur exclusively Haredi toun, wi a verra heich percentage o immigrants frae North Americae an Europe.

Geography

Kiryat Ye'arim is locatit approximately 10 kilometre (6.2 mi) wast o Jerusalem, juist north o the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem heich-gate. Neighborin Kiryat Ye'arim tae the northeast is the Arab toun o Abu Ghosh.

Kiryat Ye'arim is atween 661.8 an 749.5 meters abuin sea level.[1]

History

Kiryat Ye'arim (Toun o Forests) is named efter a toun o the same name mentioned in the Bible in relation tae Keeng David's transport o the Ark o the Covenant tae Jerusalem. Here the Ark wis said tae hae restit for 20 years. David then removed it tae Jerusalem (I Chronicles 13, 5-8). There thaim that believe that a nearbi tell is the remains o the biblical toun. Anither theory is that the biblical toun is the present Abu Ghosh. The name Telz-Stone wis in honor o American Greetings foonder-chairman Irving I. Stone, wha gied generously in the veelage's foondin.
