Kafr Qasim (Arabic: كفر قاسم, cried Kafr Qassem, Kufur Kassem, Kfar Kassem an Kafar Kassem an aa), is a hill-top Israeli Arab ceety locatit aboot twinty kilometers east o Tel Aviv, near the Green Line separatin Israel an the Wast Bank, on the soothren portion o the "Little Triangle" o Arab-Israeli touns an veelages. The toun became notorious for the Kafr Qasim massacre, in which the Israel Border Polis killed 48 ceevilians on October 29, 1956. On Februar 12, 2008, the Israeli Meenister o the Interior declared Kafr Qasim a ceety in a ceremony held at the toun.

In 1917, durin Warld War I, Kafr Qasim (thegither wi the rest o the aurie) wis captured frae the rulin Ottoman Empire bi the Breetish Airmy an wis later placed unner the Breetish Mandate o Palestine. Kafr Qasim is kent as the veelage whaur the Israeli military advances came tae a halt in the central pairt o Palestine durin the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In 1949, Israel annexed the toun in accordance wi the airmistice agreements, which endit the war.
Kafr Qasim became kent acause o the massacre that wis committit bi the Israel border polis (MAGAV) on October 29, 1956, durin which 49 ceevilians wur shot deid.
