Collogue:Scots Pairlament election, 2016
Infobox could do with translating
eeditUnless the outcome of the current discussions is a complete nuking of the site, it seems like this article is likely to stick around, so the infobox could do with translating. I'd be happy to edit the image files if a native speaker would provide me with a translation. James Hyett (tauk) 18:43, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- Having had a peak through a document by the Scottish Parliament written in Scots, as well as a guide to a map of Scotland published in Scots by the Centre for the Scots Leid, I've got a first attempt below. Original English is on the left, Scots on the right. Anything marked with (?) I wasn't able to find any support for in those documents, just on this wiki (a dangerous place to look, I know), items in [square brackets] are options that I don't feel qualified to make a call on, and ??? means I didn't even know where to start.
- Constituency Seats – Constituency Seats
- Additional Member Seats – Adeetional Memmer Seats
- Highland & Islands – Hieland an Islands
- Northeast Scotland – Northeast Scotland - North East might possibly be preferable, since the region where they speak Doric is only ever referred to as such by the SLC. On the other hand, "northeast" is attested in the corpus, and even the AWB typos on this wiki have "northeastren" etc.
- Mid Scotland & Fife – Mid Scotland & Fife - I'm convinced that "mid" meaning "middle" is acceptable based on this search of the corpus (see for instance the entry from "Smith, Mark R" and "Fairnie, Robert", the latter of which has "postit in maist o the libraries o East, Mid an West Lothian"
- Central Scotland – Central Scotland - Central is definitely a word in Scots
- West Scotland – Wast Scotland
- Glasgow – Glesga
- South Scotland – Sooth Scotland
- Lothian – Lowden
- Ayr – Ayr
- Glasgow – Glesga(?) -
The more I think about this one, the more I'm inclined to leave all the constituencies untranslated.Never mind! This isn't even an official constituency, just a geographic region! (the English name is just 'Glasgow' region) - Edinburgh – Edinburgh
- Aberdeen – Aiberdeen
- Dundee – Dundee
- Shetland – Shetland
- Orkney – Orkney
- Election Result – Affcome o the Election
- Scottish National Party – Scots National Pairty (aw pairty names taken fi Scots Pairlament guide)
- Leader – Leader
- Seats – Seats
- Conservative Party – Scots Tory an Unionist Pairty
- Labour Party – Scots Labour Pairty
- Green Party – Scots Green Pairty
- Liberal Democrats – Scots Leeberal Democrats
- Constituency – Constituency
The left side shows constituency winners of the election by their party colours. The right side shows regional winners of the election for the additional members by their party colours. - Constituency wunners o the election are shawn on the left, bi pairty colour. On the richt is adeetional memmers for regions, alsae bi pairty colour. link for wunners ref
I'm now going to try and port enwiki's Template:TranslatePassage to scowiki to flag untranslated text that needs translating.
