Wadi Al Shatii Destrict

Wadi Al Shatii (Arabic: وادي الشاطئWādī aš Šāṭi' ), sometimes referred tae as Ash Shati (Arabic: الشاطئAš Šāṭi' ), is ane o the destricts o Libie in the central-wast pairt o the kintra. Its caipital is Brak.[2] The aurie is maistly desert.

Tae the wast, Wadi Ash Shatii borders the Illizi Province o Algerie. Efter the 2007 admeenistrative reorganization o destricts, it borders on the follaein destricts:

Wadi Al Shatii District is named efter the depression (umwhile lakebed) o the same name, Wadi ash-Shati'. The depression extends east frae the toun o Umm al-'Abid tae the toun o Wanzarik on the wast, a distance o aboot 87 mile (140 km).

In 1943, vera lairge, but law grade, sedimentary iron-ore deposits wur discovered in the Wadi ash-Shatii Destrict near Brak.[3][4] Economically, it is anerlie suitable for strip minin. There are an aa potential economic manganese deposits in the same aurie. The manganese occurs in lens or veinlets (up tae 23% Mg) in the sandstanes associatit wi the iron ore.[4] Millet is the primary agricultural export frae the valley.
