Vandalism

eedit

I randomly ended up on the Scots Wiki and saw this page: Fowk sang in the recent changes. I think that it is vandalism and should be deleted. Best regards, Koreanovsky (tauk) 09:41, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for flagging this. Looks likes it's been put there as a place-holder. May be a good faith error rather than vandalism. I'll redirect it to Folk Song for just now. C1614 (tauk) 09:44, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Redirected to Fowk muisic for now. C1614 (tauk) 09:47, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
(in Inglis)(tauk page watter)Redirect is definitely the correct outcome here. Nothing offensive, looks like test edits to me.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (taukcontribs) 09:53, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

hi

eedit

hi, Full disclosure, I do not speak Scots and I mostly came from meta, and reddit. I noticed you had said a pause for AWB edits, and am curious if I can help out with some of the mundane tasks. Thanks. Starzoner (tauk) 15:49, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Starzoner. Thanks very much for the offer. I'm going to start using AWB again following a discussion over on the Scots Wikipedia Editors' FB page. However, it would be great to get some help; there's a lot to do! I see that 'together' > 'thegither' has recently been settled over on WP:SPELL. You could start with that, and then keep an eye out for others entries in the Settled section. I've been running AWB to ignore refs and links etc so as not to accidentally edit quoted English text or break links. I've also mostly been running lower-case changes, so as to avoid song and book titles etc. Cheers and aa the best! C1614 (tauk) 17:32, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Starzoner: After a discussion on Discord, we've also settled televeesion -> telly, which has around 1181 occurrences. @C1614:, I now know how to add new rules to the AWB/Typos list (thanks to kind help from Lee Vilenski). I don't have access to windows so can't run AWB myself, but hopefully that might save you one part at least. Soothrhins (tauk) 17:57, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Just in case there was any confusion - the typos list applies all those on that list if you select "Regex typo fixing" under Options. Most articles have at least one item that can be changed. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (taukcontribs) 18:00, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Soothrhins:@Lee Vilenski:Braw! Thanks both. I'm going to hold off on using 'Regex typo fixing' for just now, until I've done a few sweeps with custom replacements. There's a lot to check when using the Regex list and I wouldn't want to miss any inappropriate changes. Excellent that it's been compiled though. Thank you both for your work on it! C1614 (tauk) 18:29, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Is it uiseful fir ye in the lang run if a keep it updatit? Soothrhins (tauk) 18:33, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Soothrhins:Really uisefu! Bit fur noo, whan there's still airticle names tae chynge an aa that, I'd be worried anent breakin links an stuff like that. Yince, A'v duin a few ither sweeps it'll stert savin loads o time. It's a great thing tae dae. C1614 (tauk) 18:39, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
A get ye! Aefauldlie Soothrhins (tauk) 18:44, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
late but any particular to do now? fyi, I"m not on the AWB checklist. Starzoner (tauk) 16:48, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

  The Original Barnstar
Having a native Scots speaker with working knowledge of AWB is seriously one of the best things to come out of Leidgate. That type of work is super important, so I really hope to see you continue it in the future. Thank you!
I lost my original message to you which was better written probably. Woops!MJLTauk 06:12, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @MJL: Thanks - fair appreciate it! Aboot time A got back tae it. The neist editathon will be a guid chance tae fire up AWB again!
