Tell Salhab (Arabic: تل سلحب‎, spelt Tal Selhab an aw) is a toun in northren Sirie, admeenistratively pairt o the Hama Govrenorate, locatit 48 kilometre (30 mi) northwast o Hama. It is situatit on the soothren edge o the Ghab plain an bi the wastren bank o the Orontes River.[1] Nearbi localities include Nahr al-Bared, Asharnah an al-Suqaylabiyah tae the north, Deir Shamil an Deir Mama tae the sooth, Tremseh, Mhardeh an Halfaya tae the east. Accordin tae the Sirie Central Bureau o Statistics, Tell Salhab haed a population o 15,454 in the 2004 census. It is the centre o a nahiyah ("subdestrict") an aw, pairt o the Al-Suqaylabiyah Destrict, consistin o 18 localities an wi a combined population o 38,783 in 2004.[2] In the early 1960s its population wis aroond 700. Its indwallers are predominantly Alawites.[3]

In 1978 a 5,200 square metre (56,000 sq ft) succar refinery wis biggit in Tell Salhab at a cost o $50 million. The refinery complex boastit a succar beet silo, a washin plant, pulp presses an dryers, an a watter reservoir.[4]
