Description eedit

Strabomantis anomalus are lairge frogs. Males measur 32–61 mm (1.3–2.4 in) an females 77–92 mm (3.0–3.6 in) in snout–vent lenth. Skin o dorsum is coarsely tuberculate wi mony short ridges an faulds, but athoot complete dorsolateral faulds. They are dull grayish broun, yellaeish brown, or broun frae abuin, wi indistinct darker blotching. Groin is variably mottled broun or black on pale yellae, yellaeish tan, or pink. Rear o thigh are daurk broun or black, wi yellae or tan mottlin or spots. Throat is suffusit wi broun or gray, wi white spots or mottling, but sometimes daurker, mottled black an white, in juveniles. Venter is dull white or yellaeish white tae pale yellae, or, occasionally, bricht, yellae.[4]

On ane occasion, a female wis foond crouched on a mass o 69 eggs in a shallaw depression. The nest wis on a river bank, likely tae be floodit at the next hivy rain, which is unuisual for presumit direct-developin species.[4]

Habitat an conservation eedit

Naitural habitats o Strabomantis anomalus are lawland an submontane forests. They live mainly alang clear, gravely streams flowin throu swampy moist rainforest. They are commonly foond alang smaw, slaw-flowin streams at nicht, uisually on the grund or on rocks beside or in shallaw watter in the stream.[1]

Strabomantis anomalus can be locally a moderately common species. It is believit tae be declinin in abundance. Habitat loss causit bi agricultural development, loggin, and human dounset is probably the main threat tae it. An aw pollution frae sprayin illegal crops is a significant threat.[1]
