The govrenment revealed that the 1,600 MW projected units, tae be cawd Sizewell C, wad, thegither with the planned units at Hinkley Point C, contribute 13% o UK electricity in the early 2020s.[1] EDF plans tae uise the EPR design for ony new-build reactors in the UK, this bein the design o reactor currently bein built in Finland, Fraunce an Cheenae.[1] EDF haed statit that the construction o Sizewell C is dependent on Hinkley C approval.

On the 18t October 2010, the Breetish govrenment announced that Sizewell wis ane o the echt sites whilk it consìdert confeerin for future nuclear pouer stations.[2] As o 2014 EDF Energy had not published a schedule for applyin for plannin permission.[3] On the 21t October 2015, it was reportit that Breetain an Cheenae haed reakit Strategic Investment Agreements for three nuclear pouer plants, includin ane at Sizewell,[4] though nae specific financin plans for Sizewell wis greed.[5] As o 2016, the seicont stage of the Sizewell C consultation is yet tae tak place. The final investment decìsion for Sizewell C is anerly likely tae tak place efter the Hinkley Point C build will hae stertit.[6] In October 2017, it was announced that the projeckit completion an first generation date o Sizewell C wad be in 2031.[7]
