Siegburg
Siegburg (i.e. fort on the Sieg river) is a ceety in the destrict o Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalie, Germany. It is locatit on the banks o the rivers Sieg an Agger, 10 kilometres frae the umwhile caipital Bonn an 26 kilometres frae Cologne.

History
eeditAirchbishop Anno II o Cologne foondit a Benedictine monastery in 1064, kent as Michaelsberg Abbey, on top o the hill cried the Michaelsberg an aw. A settlement that arose frae that wis first mentioned as a ceety in 1182. Siegburg reached the hicht o its prosperity in the 15t an 16t century. It is famous for its pottery, especially for the Siegburg pitchers (Siegburger Krüge).
Siegburg haes been the coonty seat o the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis syne 1816.
Siegburg's synagogue wis destroyed on Kristallnacht, signalin the demise o its Jewish commonty.
