Agricultur is the main economic activity.[1] Temaxcaltepec is ane o the centres o the Chatino fowk, relatit tae the Zapotec but wi a distinct leid.[2] Municipal representatives are selectit accordin tae the tradeetional indigenous seestem (usos y costumbres).
