Sangil-dong leeterally means 'Upper Pairt' an locatit geografically heicher than Hail-dong (Currently Gangil-dong) whaur the stream o Genae flows.[3] In 1963, Sangil-dong became a pairt o Seoul. Till the early 1980s, huge apairtments complex namit Godeok Jugong Apartments wur built bi Korea National Housing Corporation (currently Korea Land & Housing Corporation). Sangil-dong Station is the eastren terminus o Seoul Subwey Line 5 an the location for Hanyoung Foreign Heich Schuil an aw.
