San Dorligo della Valle (Slovene: Dolina) is a comune (municipality) in the Province o Trieste in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, locatit aboot 4 kilometre (2.5 mile) sootheast o Trieste, on the border wi Slovenie. As o 31 Dizember 2004, it haed a population o 6,019 an a aurie o 24.5 square kilometre (9.5 sq mi).[1] Accordin tae the 1971 census, 70,5% o the population are ethnic Slovenes, while the rest are maistly Italians.

The Slovenie name o the toun, Dolina, means 'Valley'. This wis the offeecial name in Italian, as well, till it wis renamit tae San Dorligo Della Valle in 1923, as pairt o the policies o Fascist Italianization. In the local Italian Triestine dialect, the veelage haes aye been referred tae simply as Dolina. In 2003, the denomination Dolina wis adoptit as the offeecial name o the dounset in baith leids;[2] housomeivver, the municipality is still cried San Dorligo della Valle in Italian. "San Dorligo" (airchaically “Durlic”) is the Tergestine dialectal form o the name o the toun's patron saunt, Ulrich o Augsburg (Sant'Ulderico).[3]

The comune borders the follaein municipalities: Koper/Capodistria (Slovenie), Hrpelje-Kozina (Slovenia), Muggia, Sežana (Slovenie), an Trieste.
