Portree
Portree (Scots Gaelic: Port Rìgh, pronounced [pʰɔrˠʃt̪ˈtʰɾiː]) is the lairgest toun on Skye in the Inner Hebrides o Scotland.[2] It is the location for the anerly seicontar schuil on the island, Portree High School. Public transport services are limitit tae buses.

Attractions in the toun include the Aros centre which celebrates the island's Gaelic heritage. Further airts proveesion is made throu airts organisation ATLAS Arts, a Creative Scotland regularly-fundit organisation.[4] The town also serves as a centre for tourists exploring the island.[5]

Etymologie
eeditThe current name, Port Rìgh translates as 'king's port', possibly frae a visit by Keeng James V o Scotland in 1540. Housomeivver this etymologie haes been contestit, syne James did no arrive in peaceful times. The aulder name appears tae hae been Port Ruighe(adh), meanin "slope harbour".[8]
