Phra Samut Chedi (Thai: พระสมุทรเจดีย์; IPA: [pʰráʔ sāmút tɕēːdīː]) is the wastmaist destrict (Amphoe) o Samut Prakan Province in central Thailand.

The destrict is namit efter the temple Phra Samut Chedi, which wis biggit 1827/28 bi king Buddha Loetla Nabhalai (Rama II) on a island in the Chao Phraya river - hence its popular name Phra Chedi Klang Nam (Chedi in the middle o the watter). The island is nou connectit wi the left river banks.
At the mooth o the Chao Phraya is the Chulachomklao Fort, which wis biggit in 1893 an came intae uise anerly ance durin the Paknam crisis in the same year. The fort is nou accessible tae visitors. The HTMS Maeklong, a umwhile trainin ship o the Ryal Thai Navy, is anither attraction in the pairk.

The destrict wis creatit as a minor destrict (Keeng Amphoe) on 15 Dizember 1984 bi splittin aff five tambon frae Mueang destrict.[1] It wis upgradit tae a full destrict on 15 Julie 1991.[2]

The destrict is subdivided intae 5 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdividit intae 42 veelages (muban). Thare are twa tounships (thesaban tambon) - Phra Samut Chedi covers the whole tambon Pak Klong Bang Pla Kot, an Lae Fa Pha covers pairts o tambon Laem Fa Pha an Nai Khlong Bang Pla Kot. Thare are further 4 Tambon admeenistrative organisations (TAO), for each tambon except Pak Klong Bang Pla Kot which haes nae nan-municipal aurie.
