In 1815, Keeng Rama II biggit the Pom Phlaeng Faifa fort at the river bend. The fort is nou locatit in a smaw pairk an accessible for visitors.
In 1819 the new toun Samut Prakan (or Paknam) wis established. Due tae the economic problems in the early 1930s several admeenistrative entities wur abolished, includin Phra Phradaeng province which haed its destricts wur assigned tae Samut Prakan an Thonburi effective 1 Apryle 1932.[1]
A 2 km tramwey athort the neck o the huge Phra Pradaeng river bend opened in 1908 an closed c.1940. Operatit bi a private company, the motorised trams connectit wi motorboat services tae Bangkok an tae Paknam at each end o the line. The tram cut a considerable time aff the up an dounriver jurney bi avoidin the lang river bend.

The toun (thesaban mueang) Phra Pradaeng covers the whole tambon Talad, the toun Lat Luang the tambon Bang Phueng, Bang Chak an Bang Kharu. The tounship (thesaban tambon) Samrong Thai covers the tambon Samrong Tai, Samrong, Samron Klang, Bang Hua Suea an Bang Ya Phraek. Thare are further 6 Tambon admeenistrative organisations (TAO) for the tambon no covered bi the municipalities.
