The waird wis foondit on 1 October 1932 when the touns o Nogata an Nakano wur absorbit intae the umwhile Tokyo Ceety as Nakano Waird. The present admeenistration dates frae 15 Mairch 1947 when the Alleed occupation reformit the admeenistration o Tokyo-to.
