Efter the Italian airmistice in September 1943, Cerkno wis leeberatit bi the Yugoslav Pairtisans an the region became ane o the maist important centres o Pairtisan resistance in the Slovene Littoral. In 1945, the aurie came unner Yugoslav militar admeenistration, an in 1947 it wis offeecially annexed tae the Socialist Republic o Slovenie athin the Socialist Federal Republic o Yugoslavie.
