Mardin (Ottoman Turkish: ماردين‎, Mardīn, Kurdish: Mêrdîn‎, Clessical Syriac: ܡܪܕܝܢ‎) is a ceety in sootheastren Turkey. The caipital o Mardin Province, it is kent for the Artuqid airchitectur o its auld ceety, an for its strategic location on a rocky hill near the Tigris River that rises steeply ower the flat plains.[1]
