His parents are umwhile tennis players an coaches. His younger sister, Dinara Safina,[4] is a professional tennis player an siller medalist at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. Safin's father managit the local Spartak Tennis Club, where Safin trained in his youth alangside several tennis players, includin Anna Kournikova, Elena Dementieva, an Anastasia Myskina.

At age 14 he muivit tae Valencia, Spain, tae gain access tae advancit tennis trainin programs which wur no available in Roushie.[5] Safin says he grew up "vera fast ... wi nae muscles" an that he muivit tae Spain acause clay courts wur "better for the knees".[5]
