Loukhsky Destrict

Loukhsky Destrict (Roushie: Ло́ухский райо́н) is an admeenistrative destrict (raion), ane o the fifteen in the Republic o Karelie, Roushie.[1] Municipally, it is incorporatit as Loukhsky Municipal Destrict.[4] It is located in the north o the republic. The aurie o the destrict is 22,544 square kilometer (8,704 sq mi). Its admeenistrative centre is the urban locality (an urban-teep dounset) o Loukhi.[2] Destrict's population: 14,760 (2010 Census);[6] 20,128 (2002 Census);[9] 24,715 (1989 Census).[10] The population o Loukhi accoonts for 32.3% o the destrict's total population.[6]

On 17 November 1987, the Presidium o the Supreme Soviet o the Roushie SFSR decreed tae transfer the dounset o the railwey station o Poyakonda frae Tedinsky Selsoviet o Loukhsky Destrict o the Karelie ASSR tae Murmansk Oblast.[11] Bi the Decision o the Murmansk Oblast Executive Committee o 20 Januar 1988, the dounset wis mergit wi the inhabitit locality o Poyakonda on the territory in jurisdiction o the toun o Kandalaksha.[11]
