Lochgilpheid
Lochgilpheid /lɒxˈɡɪlp.hɛd/ (Scots Gaelic: Ceann Loch Gilb [kʲʰan̪ˠ lˠ̪ɔx ˈkʲilip]) is a toun an umwhile burgh in Argyll an Bute, Wast o Scotland, wi a population o aroond 2,300 fowk.[1] It is the admeenistrative centre o Argyll an Bute. The veelage lees at the end o Loch Gilp (a branch o Loch Fyne) an lees on the banks o the Crinan Canal. Lochgilphead sits on the A83 road, wi Ardrishaig 2 miles tae the sooth an Inverara 24 miles tae the north-east; Oban lees 37 miles north on the A816.
