The Lochans[1] ((in Inglis) Lochans) is a wee toun aboot 2.5 mile sooth o Stranrawer, in the auld coonty o Wigtounshire in Dumfries an Gallowa, Scotland.[2][3] Its name is fae "Lochan" is the Scots Gaelic wird for a wee loch.[citation needit]

The Lochans Mill in the 19t century wis a sma twa-flet range, wi waws made o stane grummel an ruift wi sclate. In the late 1700s it wis biigit as a meal mill. The wheel at its side wis made fae casten airn. The wheel hid sax spaiks an is muntit on a casten-airn aixle. The wheel is 12 fit across bi 4.5 fit wide. Awthing inby his been remuived so thare is no machinery.[4]
