Karaağaç, Hatay
Karaağaç is a toun in İskenderun destrict o Hatay Province, Turkey. At 36°34′N 36°08′E / 36.567°N 36.133°E it is vera close baith tae İskenderun an it is amaist at the coast o Mediterranean Sea. Distance tae Antakya (centre o the province) is aboot 62 kilometre (39 mi). The population o Karaağaç is 20,152 [1] as o 2011. Karaağaç is a relatively new toun. 200 years ago five close veelages wur foondit bi the fowk frae Belen, a destrict centre aboot 15 kilometre (9.3 mi) at the north. Efter a considerable increase in population, in 1986 fower o these veelages votit tae be unitit as a tounship. Nou the umwhile veelages are the quairters o the toun.[2]
