It haes the lairgest geografical range o ony widdy plant, wi a circumpolar distribution ootthrou the cuil temperate Northren Hemisphere frae the Arctic sooth in mountains tae aroond 30°N latitude in North Americae, Europe an Asie. Relict populations can be foond in the Atlas Moontains o Africae.
