Drapetsona durin the antiquity wis a region o Attic Municipality o Athens accordin tae the admeenistrative diveesion o Cleisthenes. In 1805 the first kirk, Saunt Dionysios wis built. In the 1830s Drapetsona wis constitutit o fowk who muivit frae Greek islands an built smaw destricts near Saunt Dionysios kirk in the aurie cried Vourla. In 1834 a pairt o the region wis gien tae Piraeus in order tae become a cemetery under the term of churches’ reconstruction. An aw a great nummer o bordels wis establisht in 1873 tae the wast o Saunt Dionysios. Efter the Asie Minor Catastrophe in 1922 thare wis a notable population increase. Immigrants frae Minor Asie wur settled doun in smaw firthen constructions. Maist o these hooses maintained till 1968 when refugee dounsets wur built. The modren ceety o Drapetsona wis recognisit as an autonomous municipality in 1951.
