It is likely that this son wis William de Candela, who received the grant o land frae Alexander.
William de Candela's son, an aa William, wis a benefactor tae the monks o Balmerino Abbey. The site nou occupied bi the Scots Fisheries Museum in Anstruther wis a gift frae William. The next generation o the faimily, Henry, nae langer styled hissel , de Candela, bein describit as 'Henricus de Aynstrother dominus ejusdem' in a chairter confirmin grants o land tae Balmerino Abbey.
Henry Anstruther accompanied Lois IX tae the crusades an swore fealty tae Keeng Edward I o Ingland in 1292 an again in 1296.

His seicont son, David, focht at the Battle o Pavia in 1520 in the service o Francis I o Fraunce in the French Scots Regiment. This line endit wi the daith o the last Baron d'Anstrude in 1928.
Andrew's great-great-grandson wis chosen as a companion tae the young James VI o Scotland, who appointit him Hereditary Grand Carver, a title still held bi the heid o the faimily the day. In 1595 he became Maister o the Hoosehauld.
