Histerie & airchitectur eedit
The castle is componed of an inner line of walls with closely spacit touers that encloses an aurie of aboot 350m bi 150m, and an ooter line of walls with touers some 40m apairt. Baith set of walls were constructit uising lairge quantities of reuised masonry. The exact date of thair construction is uncertain, but baith postdate the capture and destruction of Ankara by the Persies in probably 622. Foss conseeders that the inner walls mey date frae the reign of Constans II. The ooter walls are generally believit tae hae been constructit slightly later.[1]
