William Gibson-Craig
Sir William Gibson Craig, 2nt Baronet FRSE (2 August 1797 – 12 Mairch 1878), wis a Scots Advocate an politeecian.

Life
eeditHe wis born the first son o Sir James Gibson-Craig, 1st Baronet, an his wife, Anne Thomson. He wis eddicatit at the High Schuil in Edinburgh an then privately in Yorkshire.[1]
William became an advocate in 1820. He wis Laird Clerk Register an Keeper o the Signet frae 1862 until his deith. He wis makt a Privy Counsellor in 1863.[2]
He wis the Member o Pairlament for Midlothian frae 1837 tae 1841 an for Edinburgh frae 1841 tae 1852. He wis a Junior Laird o the Treasury in Laid John Russell's govrenment frae 1846 tae 1852.[2]
He became a member o the Highland Society in 1824. In 1828 he wis electit a Fellae o the Ryal Society o Edinburgh his proposer bein Thomas Allan.
He lived in Riccarton Hoose tae the sooth-wast o Edinburgh.[3]

eeditHis younger brither, James Thomson Gibson-Craig WS (1799-1886) wis awso a Fellae o the Ryal Society o Edinburgh.[1]
He wis mairit tae Betsy Vivian. Thay haed sax bairns.
Ane o his grandchildren wis the philanthropist Dorothy Brooke.[2]
