Wasit Province
Wasit Province ([واسط Wāsit] error: {{lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)) is a province in eastren Iraq. Its name comes frae the Arabic wird meanin "middle," as it lees alang the Tigris aboot midwey atween Baghdad an Basra. Its major ceeties include the caipital Al Kut, Al-Hai, an the ceety Wasit. Prior tae 1976 it wis kent as Kut Province.
