eeditIt is locatit on the sooth-wastren banks o the Paraná River atween the courses o the Arroyo Pavón an the Arroyo del Medio, aboot 214 km sooth frae the provincial caipital, the ceety o Santa Fe, an 50 km frae Rosario. It haes a population o mair nor 43,000 inhabitants as per the 2001 census [INDEC].

The initial dounset on the shore o the Paraná wis cried Puerto de Piedras. The toun wis foondit bi the initiative o some businessmen frae nearbi Rosario, efter receivin authorization frae the govrenment o Santa Fe. The aurie wis strategically important acause it wis adequate for a port an next tae the Arroyo del Medio, which is the natural border wi the Buenos Aires Province. The residents o Puerto de Piedras attendit the foondation o the new toun, wi the presence o govrenor Juan Pablo López, on 14 Februar 1858. The name Villa Constitución wis gien tae the toun to honor the Assembly that haed promulgatit the Constitution o 1852.
The toun stairtit tae grow substantially wi the arrival o the railwey in 1888–1890 (the station at the junction o the line comin frae the port wi the Buenos Aires–Rosario railwey gae rise tae the toun o Empalme Villa Constitución). Villa Constitución became an important agricultural center, an then (syne the mid-20t hunderyear) hame for mony industrial enterprises.
In the early 60's, in the ceety haed a plant o the Goliath Hansa caurs. The Hansa 1100 Lexus are made in Argentinae bi Goliath Hansa Argentina in the ceety o Villa Constitución, Santa Fe for the 1960–1961 years in three versions: Sedán de Lujo, Combi y Súper cupé Lujo. Wi a caipital o $ 3,350,000, began operations on 2 Mey 1960, an 15 September began wirk on the construction o a 19,000 m2 manufacturin plant.[1]
