Northren Scots refers tae the dialects o Modren Scots tradeetionally spoken in eastren pairts o the north o Scotland.
The dialect is generally dividit intae:[1][2]
- North Northren spoken in Caithness, Easter Ross an the Black Isle.
- Mid Northren, popularly kent as the Doric, spoken in Aiberdeenshire, Banff an Buchan, Moray an the Nairn aurie.
- Sooth Northren spoken in East Angus an the Mearns.
Northren Scots, lik Insular Scots, is amang the maist conservative Scots byleids as weel as haein lang-term contack wi ither leids.[3]
