In social science an politics, pouer is the ability tae influence or control the behaviour o fowk. The term "authority" is eften uised for pouer perceived as legitimate bi the social structur. Pouer can be seen as evil or unjuist, but the exercise o pouer is acceptit as endemic tae humans as social beins. In buisiness, pouer is eften expressed as bein "upward" or "dounward". Wi dounward power, a company's superior influences subordinates. When a company exerts upward pouer, it is the subordinates who influence the decisions o their leader or leaders.[1]
