Ither names for the comune wur proponit (includin Padergnano an Borgosole) throu the 1880s. Bi decree o 1 Februar 1886, the comune's name wis formally chyngit tae the current name o Paderno Dugnano.
Paderno receivit the honorar title o ceety wi a presidential decree on 25 September 1989.
