Muhammad Husayn Haykal

Muhammad Hussein Haekal (Arabic: محمد حسين هيكل) (August 20, 1888 – December 8 1956) wis an Egyptian writer, jurnalist, politeecian an Meenister o Education in Egyp.

Heikal wis born in Mansoura, Ad Daqahliyah in 1888. He obtained a B.A. in Law in 1909 and a JD frae the Sorbonne University in 1912. Efter returnin tae Egyp, he wirked as a lawyer for 10 years, then as a jurnalist. He wis electit as editor-in-chief o Al Siyasa newspaper, the organ o "The constitutional Tory party" for which he wis an aa an advisor. In 1937, he wis appointit as Meenister o State for the Interior Meenistry in the Muhammad Mahmoud Pasha's seicont govrenment. Then he was appointed as a Meenister o Education whaur he introduced several reforms, includin decentralization, bi establishin educational zones an makin programs an curricula naitionally orientit. He wis greatly influenced an inspired bi the comprehensive reforms o Mohammad Abduh, Ahmad Lutfy El Sayed an Qasim Amin. Haikal is the faither o Fayza Haikal who teaches Egyptology at the American University in Cairo.
