Kotka is locatit on the coast o the Guwf o Finland at the mooth o Kymi River an it is pairt o the Kymenlaakso region in soothren Finland. The municipality haes a population o 54,849 (31 August 2013)[2] an covers an aurie o 949.74 square kilometres (366.70 sq mi) o which 678.45 km2 (261.95 sq mi) is watter.[6] The population densitie is 202.18 inhabitants per square kilometre (523.6/sq mi). The ceety centre o Kotka is locatit at Kotkansaari island.

The municipality is offeecially unilingually Finnish.

The Port o Kotka is a major Finnish sea port that serves baith the foreign tred o Finland an Roushie.[7]
