Kotka is locatit on the coast o the Guwf o Finland at the mooth o Kymi River an it is pairt o the Kymenlaakso region in soothren Finland. The municipality haes a population o 50,599 (28 Februar 2023)[2] an covers an aurie o 949.77 square kilometre (366.71 sq mi) o which 678.45 km2 (261.95 sq mi) is watter.[6] The population densitie is 186.51 inhabitants per square kilometre (483.1/sq mi). The ceety centre o Kotka is locatit at Kotkansaari island.

The municipality is offeecially unilingually Finnish.

The Port o Kotka is a major Finnish sea port that serves baith the foreign tred o Finland an Roushie.[7]
